2010 FSANS ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND SEMI-ANNUAL MEETINGA Huge Success,
The Annual Conference and Semi-Annual Meeting was held this year at the Holiday Inn in Truro during the weekend of April 17th and 18th. We had a good turnout of approximately 100 members, representing all regions of the Province and 14 suppliers set up display tables. The venue was a perfect fit for both members and suppliers, everyone had enough room to spread out and the Holiday Inn did an excellent job keeping us well fed and refreshed. Saturday kicked off at 9:00am with registration and manufacturers display. Mr. Eric LeBreton from Canutec gave an excellent presentation of the functionality of the ERG2008. This was followed up by Terry Canning presenting radio systems. After a tasty lunch Debbie Wallace gave a first rate presentation of PFOS Regulations and Environment Emergency. The afternoon was rounded off with Lorne Piercey, from the NS Fire Fighters School, educating all about the features and challenges of hybrid cars of today, again an excellent presentation and very educational. Saturday night a cocktail hour allowed everyone some mingle time before a delicious roast beef banquet dinner was served. After the plates were cleared away it was time for the kitchen party, everyone was entertained with the tunes of Robert Bouchard, some of the “not so shy” even took in a jig or two! Entertainment was generously sponsored by Antigonish Farmers Mutual Insurance, arranged by Bill Chisholm.
The Annual Meeting was held on the Sunday. Nine new members were present, introduced themselves and were welcomed to the Association. It was reported that with regard to registration, out of the 316 Departments listed, 227 Departments had registered and paid their memberships, so that was very encouraging news. After another delicious lunch, and time for networking with our generous manufacturers, there was a very interesting presentation by Bragg Lumber Company on how to deal with Honey Bee MVA’s with the Annual Meeting wrapping up at 2:30pm, allowing ample time for folks to travel home.
Best Regards
