Annual General Meeting

Finally, after 2 long years of waiting to hold an AGM due to the pandemic, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Sunday, May 01, 2022 at the Inn on Prince Hotel and Conference Centre, Truro, Nova Scotia. There was a good turnout of 49 members, taken from the sign-in sheet, and 7 suppliers and manufacturers turned out to support the event. The day kicked off with the meeting starting at 10:00am, followed by one minute silence in respect of those who have served and have passed. The Minutes from the previous AGM held on October 20, 2019 were approved.
Beth Edwards, Executive Director, reported the following in regards to membership -
As of today’s date I am happy to report 546 members and 234 departments are signed on. Supplier count is 13. The end of March of 2021 the numbers looked like this, 579 members and 199 departments.
Wade Jennings, in his role as Chair, Finance Committee, presented the budget for 2022 which was approved as presented.
A special award was presented to Mac Noble for his many, many years of dedication and service to FSANS. Also, a thank you gift was given to Daniel Gaudet, for his tenure as President of FSANS for the last 2 years. Greg Jones stepped into the role of President, with Wade Jennings moving up to 1st Vice President along with Cody Stevens as the new 2nd Vice President. A delicious lunch of sandwiches, sweets and refreshments, was served by the terrific staff at the hotel. Thanks as well to our suppliers for their support and donation of generous door prizes.
The meeting resumed at 1:00pm with the various committee annual reports being given. This provided all members with updates from the current standing committees. As well Doug MacKenzie gave his report of the latest news from the Office of the Fire Marshal.
