Married to Elaine, 3 grown children.

Retired power engineer.

 A member of Thorburn Fire Dept. for 36 years, I rose through the ranks, and became Fire Chief in 2003. As of Feb. 8,2012, I became a retired Fire Chief. I am still active in the Fire Dept. and have taken the position of Safety Officer.

I am a 36 year member of the Pictou County Firefighters Assoc., and served terms as Secretary, Vice-President, and President of that Association.

I am a member of MFCA.

I am the Fire Service representative on the Pictou County REMO.

I was a  member of the Emergency Response Team  at the pulp mill  (now Northern Pulp Ltd.) at Abercrombie Point, Pictou County for 20 years, 17 as Shift Crew Captain.

Qualified as Level  ll firefighter (‘80’s era), industrial firefighter, was a confined space rescuer and hazmat technician, and I am a medical first responder. I hold a Certificate in Fire Service Leadership from Dalhousie University. I have completed the ICS-300 course.
